Canopus ADVC-300 looks impressive!

I just read about the Canopus ADVC300 (http://www.canopus.us/US/products/ADVC300/pt_advc300.asp) and I think I want one!

Clean, stabilize and preserve analog video
ADVC300 employs advanced 3D YC separation, 3D noise reduction and Line Time Base Correction (LTBC) functions for perfect frame synchronization. Poor analog source video is filtered and stabilized prior to DV conversion. ADVC300 is also ideal for “cleaning” old analog video and output back to analog tape.

It's rather expensive, though. :(

Hmmm I don't know.

For $550 You can get a VERY good S-VHS VCR with TBC, after which you don't need advanced comb filtering any more. Besides, the advanced comb filtering only works for NTSC.
And of course, DV only. I like my Huffyuv :D :D :D

I'm allways a bit suspicious of extremely expensive one-box-fits-all solutions.:sly:

Well, I would put it this way:

If capturing with the ADVC300 results in video quality that doesn't need any further filtering then I'd buy one. But if I still have to apply additional noise reduction or other filters then I'd prefer an S-VHS VCR with TBC.

There is one thing:

This is the first consumer grade device I have seen that has a true 3D comb filter (adaptive in the time domain), instead of adaptive 2D.

So if your source is composite video it might be interesting.
