Hi There one and all

I have been browsing these Forums for a while now and have been using DVD2SVCD mostly successfully, and any problems I have had have been solved by using the fabled "Search" button.

Now here comes the but, recently was trying to convert K19 The Widowmaker from DVD, and CCE 2.50 was hanging at various stages, once at 24% then 75% with no errors and nothing in the CCE logfile, I searched around the Forums for an answer I found a reference to the Avisynth.dll found in the system32 folder but this was well over a year old for an older Version of Avisynth ( I am using 2.08 ) also a lot of references to Hardware problem so ran the recommended Prime95 torture test and the Mem86 memory test all of which passed OK.

I then tried again this time using TMPGEnc using the same IFO and VOB's and encoded no problem, so any help in solving this hang would be great in case happens again, i will paste the DVD2SVCD log at the bottom.

Thank you in advance

Keep up the great work you are all doing
Mark

Your AVG bitrate is perhaps too high for CCE 2.5, according to Q8 in the CCE FAQ.

The K19 movie is extremely compressible too. I made it fit in 1 CD with good quality. It maxed out at 2 CDs.

If you already discarded a hardware problem, try lowering the CD number to get away from the high BR.

Also, I see you're encoding anamorphic. Does you player support that? AFAIK, few players do.

CCE VBR with 3 passes is actually 4 passes and that much passes are not needed. You might want to try the D2Sroba plugin and get it in 1 or 2 passes.

I did read the CCE Q&A and assumed as it was on the money at 300 would be ok, but I have learnt that CCE is very picky so will go with your suggestion of lowering the number of CD's to lower the AVG Bitrate, and will let you know how it goes..

As to the Anamorphic question, to be honest it was about my 5th go at encoding this movie and I just plain forgot to change it....

I will also ammend to 3 pass as you suggest, I have read a bit about D2Sroba but as yet haven't tried it but will give it a go, what are the advantages of using it?

Anyway thanks for your help and appreciate the Good Post smiley :)

2.6x is less picky AFAIK.

Did I suggest that? 3 is still too much. 2 is enough. (Remember CCE VBR does n+1 passes).

Just thought I would let you know i did what you suggested and K-19 now encoded perfectly, better quality than the TMPGEnc version too...

Now having similar problems encoding an AVI, but will fiddle and see what happens.

Thanks for the info much appreciated :)
