need help on subtitles plz!!

hey i have the dvd "a beautiful life" and i want to rip it with italian languague with english subtitles... now i chose permenant subtitles to be in the vid file... when it finished encoding and i played the file the subtitles aint there... how do i get subtitles to work??? plz need help, much appriciated
