Hi to you all,

I'm using OGM for quite a bit and so far the results are very good, subtitles, chapters and so on.....

But now i'm tryng the new matroska container, my doubts:

Can i do everything with VirtualDubMod??Join Sound??Join subtitles??Join Chapters??? Or should i do the encode of the video with VDM and the rest i join with some Mux Tool???

I extract the chapters with chapterextractor, but then the extension will be different, it will not be like OGM chapters for instance, How to do it??

Though this post seems a bit unnecessary...

I rip everything the same for both the ogg and matroska containers and just save as matroska instead of ogm out of VDM (the chapters are in the same format). If you are using the rv9 you need to use another mux tool but if not you can compress to the complete, muxed file in VDM.

Matroska really is a great container that has matured to the point where it is very usable and, AFAIK, lacks any major deficiencies or bugs.

You can do everything you can do with OGM with VdubMod. If you want other things like VobSub subtitles, advanced chapter format, the new lacing scheme, (HE) AAC audio ( don't remember if VDM supports this), DTS, quicktime/mp4, anamorphic support, and probably some other things I forgot, you'll want to use MKVtoolnix (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64548).
