Can anybody help me out to get rid off the freezing up problem when I transcode the Matrix (first one). I have ripped it w/ dvddecrypter, ripped audio & subs with IFO edit. Finally, I have tried DVDSHRIK and Recode to do the movie. But in the chapters where it has the special effects it freezes up on my dvd players. On my first tried I took out the IlVU stuff with no luck. Second, I did not touch it at all. Can any one PLEASE HELP....?

Matrix is a tricky DVD

what are you trying to do?

movie-only or movie with menu's and extra's?

DVDShrink and Recode have difficulty separating the PGC's in this DVD as they are all mostly linked somehow

I did manage to get this one done(main movie all extra features)with Recode, but I did have to go back in with IFOEdit and Get VTS on it and copy a few of the _0.VOBs over for some reason. I was using the newest version of Recode available on Aheads site.

Hi,
I'm just trying to do movie w/ menu. NO extras. Is there a guide to do so.

Thanks :)

Try this if you want movie only:

rip movie only, not whole dvd with smartripper or dvd-decrypter

then run through ifoedit, strip the streams you dont want, keep all vob id's. then get VTS sectors.

then use dvd-shrink, open files option, and compress, should work fine.

oops. sorry, misread your post, you wanted to keep menus.

You can also use dvdfab to do movie only and then run ICOPY.

Yes, I know I can go that way but I also want to keep the menu...

pv110, check your PM as I think you already have the answer but haven't realised ;)

I guess its your choice, but personally I wouldn't worry about the menu. After all your trying to get good quality encoding for your picture, so I would just do movie only. I mean your not watching the menu, your watching the movie.

after all of that, the answer was right under your nose all the time as you already had the tool to do it :)

anyway I'm glad you finally got what you wanted and hope you enjoy using that method again and don't hesitate to shout up if you need help again :D

pv110 already had DVDStripper at the time of asking but didn't realise that he could use it to strip The Matrix and keep menus :)
