Hi,

From what I have read CCE, followed by TMPG are the best MPEG-2 encoders avaliable. I also understand that some other DVD backup programs such as CloneDVD (I think - tell me if I'm wrong) use encoders that don't really completely reencode the video stream, but use some special technique which allows them to be very quick, but also not as high quality.

Where does Nero's Recode come into all of this. Is it another quick but low quality one or is it a slow one with good quality. How far off being as good as CCE is it?

Comments appreciated.

Nero Recode is a compressed domain transcoder like DVDShrink, DVD2One, CloneDVD, and the like. So you shouldn't compare it to CCE, TMPGEnc, etc.

Nero Recode takes about twice as long as dvd2one
but it does allow you to recode the movie and the
extras at different compressions, so the movie
can be top quality, and the extras low quality,

I like it!
