Editing MPEG2 files

What is a good prog. Shareware/Commercial to use for editing MPEG2 files please?

I need to edit/cut parts of the MPEG2 file and join it to another ones until I get about a 4Gb file.

You can accomplish that with DVD Shrink and VOB Edit. These are available at the Doom9 Website (http://www.doom9.org) in the Download section.

If you wanted to do something "fancier" like transitions and video effects, you're getting moving into the area of products like ULead's MediaStudio Pro, and Magix Video Deluxe.

For cutting, joining and re-arranging those other two should be fine.

One more prog for cut/paste is TMPGenc, but it´s only GOP-accurate
(app. half second). The function is in File/MPEG Tools ...

hey, i have a similar problem as devdeep.

i am a long time user of dvd shrink for dvd backups, but i can't open an mpeg with that(2.3 or beta) or vob edit.:confused:

is there something im missing here?

all i want to do is take all these mpeg2's cluttering up my harddrive and burn em all

Tempenc DvdAuthor will do the job easily. It has a 30 fully functional trial. Just load your files, Select start and end points and keep adding until you have what you desire. and then run the authoring portion. If your desired output is a Dvd you are good to go. The problem with it is if you want a mpg2 file. You have to make and mount a image of it. Than select the image with dvdauthor and it will ask if you want to extract it as ampg. Just say yes.
