Avi without video playback

I have many avis that when I try and play them there is no video and the audio is extremely choppy. I have 3ivx, xvid, divx3 and divx 5 installed. I will post the information for one of the files from Gspot. This one is for a divx 3 video with mp3 sound and I don't understand why it won't play correctly since I have the codecs Gspot says I need and says are installed. Anyway here is the Gspot info:

Has anyone else had this problem?

If this is the condition of all your players,I think windows is screwed up some how.You need to re-install.(May be)

Does mp3 playback generally work?
I would try installing ffdshow, it takes care of all video-playback-filters...
And for mp3-playback, I use the radium codec, maybe you should give that a try...
By the way, if you have DivX5 installed, it will decode div3, regardless if you have DivX 3.11 installed or not...
Therefore it seems to be a problem with DivX5 (or the audio, since in directshow video playback is synchronized using the audio stream, IIRC).

You could maybe try installing a good filter pack, like Tsunamis, but that may also make matters worse.
Generally I would say it's best to have the smallest possible number of filters installed simultaneously - that's the reason I recommend ffdshow, because it can decode almost any mpeg4-content, and with good quality furthermore...

I guess he has some conflicting codecs. The changes are pretty small resolving that without reinstalling your OS.

1) Does a mp3 file play correctly?

2) Does a video only file (remove the audio in vdub, set video on direct stream copy) play correctly?
