I'm working with philips video cd 2.0 (yeah, it's old alright!), once you familairize yourself with how this software functions it's great and has everything you could need to author, although i am open to suggestions to other similiar softwares that aren't so particular about file types. But, for the time being i'm sticking with it. onto my question:

how can i generate compliant mpv and mpa files from the extracted VOB's for multiplexeing via VCDMux to a .MMD file (white book specifications) compliant with philips video toolkit 2.0

again, I think VCD toolkit is great, but I'm open to other software options but only if they have an equaled ability to create functioning menus and such. Thanks! Peace!

You need to convert your dvd files to video cd compliant mpeg 1 files. Here is a guide for this: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/tmpg-main.htm Skip the burning/mastering things and use Philips Vcd Toolkit. You also need to get TOCSplit(http://www.icdia.org/sw_pc/vcdtools.html) to burn the images created by the toolkit.

I used TMPgenc to create an mpeg-1 file as suggested via the steps provided within the tutorial. I saved my output type as an .mpv file because thats what VCDMUX calls for when multiplexing/converting. When trying to convert the multiplex .mpv created by TMPgenc to a philips video cd 2.0 compatible .mmd file VCDMUX fails and returns the following error:

invalid sequence layer start
fatal error

I'm trying the mpeg-1 creation process again but saved my output file as a .mpeg. Will VCDMUX accept this file? What went wrong the first time? I'm posting this response early since it takes about 11 hrs for the mpeg creation process to complete. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! peace!
