Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has used the DVD2One program, and if they have I had a question. Its an all-in-one program that takes a video_ts file and basically makes it fit onto a 4.7g disc. Now I really don't know a lot about DVD file structures at all, let alone what happens to it when this program shrinks them down to size. But I do know that the files are "re-structured" in a sense. Im not sure how this works, but whatever happens, the files are no longer readable by every ripper I have tried.

Can anyone explain this to me, because even though the files are different, they are still the same file types that the software ripped in the first place. Like DVDDecrypter for instance. When I put my backed-up disc in, the program wont read it, it just gives me read-disc errors, and will retry until eventually it quits.

And im wondering if there is some type of program that can rip a burned movie? And even if there isn't a way to "backup a backup", can someone just explain to me why this is?

Thanks for any help all.

hi and welcome to the forum,
honestly i don't think this is because of DVD2One, there would be absolutely no reason why a DVDripper can't read a backup DVD. actually it shouldn't (or can't) even make a difference if you are ripping a original or backup DVD, because if a ripper wouldn't be able to read it, there would be no chance a standalone could!

much more i see this connected to bad media! have you tried with different and especially not bulk media?

a backup dvd has no protection, so you don't need a ripper to
copy it. Just drag and drop the files on your hard drive, or
select the copy function on whatever burning software you use.
Why do you think video_ts files are altered, all the movie data
is contained in files called ***.vob !

More likely is the backup dvd you are trying to read is such poor quality, its unreadable......let me guess Princo media.....
Always use Ritek media!

wow, your absolutely right, im using princo media. Now I cant remember for sure, but I believe that I have backed up a backup before, using princo, but as of lately, it just wont work.

Ive also tried to copy the files from my DVD-Rom to my hard drive, using cut and paste. And I get errors there as well. That makes it seem like its the media for sure.

Then I just dragged the files to my desktop, and it seems to be working. It could have been my DVD-Rom because now im using my DVD-RW drive and its working. Thanks for the tip, I guess good media is better in the long run.

your dvd writer is much better at reading dodgy media
than a dvd rom as the laser is far more powerful.
I find a lot of princo media to be unreadable in anything except
a writer after 1 year, completely unreadable after 2 years.
(although some bulkcrap I used only read for 2 weeks)
Ritek on the other hand have not failed me yet....
2.5 years and still OK.
