I have a Sony DCR-PC100E (PAL) digital camcoder that allow me to record in 16:9 mode. When I capture my movie (firewire) with Premiere 6.5 I select "DV-PAL-Widescreen" project setting which has a pixel aspect ratio set to "D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)". The captured movie is displayed in premiere with 16:9 aspect, but when I open it whith WMPlayer (or VDub) it is deformed in 4:3 aspect! Why?!!How can I set my movie to be open with 16:9 aspect?

Welcome to the DV forum!

Windows Media Player and VirtualDub do not recognize 16:9 flags in AVI files. If you want to encode to an AVI format, e.g. DivX, then resize in AviSynth or VirtualDub to a proper 16:9 resolution like described in the guide in the sticky thread. If you want to play you DV AVI directly, use a player with aspect ratio settings, e.g. ZoomPlayer.

If your target is DVD, you just need to set the 16:9 flag for proper display. Both software players and standalones will automatically resize according to the flag set during encoding (or later with ReStream and the like).
