Ive been having some trouble understanding video editing stuff. could someone please give me a step by step process of how to reduce the size of an avi file without actually taking out any of the video? I cant figure out if its what program you use to compress it or the resolution or whatever, so i could use some help Thanks

Welcome to the forum
To answer your question, you can't do it without losing quality. Recompressing video is alot like recompressing audio, the quality goes down each time you have to re-encode the audio. But if you really want to, then I guess you could load your AVI into GordianKnot and follow the instructions in Doom9's guide.

I know you said that you didn't want to lose any of the video but if your video is a few meg too big to fit on a cd, you can simply cut off the credits using nandub.
