Hi,

I recently encoded a 87 min film with DivX 5.00 and the end result was a file of 310Mb instead of 700Mb.
This makes me once more asking the following Questions:

1. What is this matter over saturated films, that cannot be compressed to a certain filesize?

2. Although having read all guides, the value Bits/(Pixel*Frames) in GordianKnot is not clear to me? how is it calculated? Why has it to be around 0,2? is this a purely empiric value?

3. What does compressibility truely means? What are its parameters? How is it related to the value Bits/(pixel*Frames)

I would be happy to get some real answers, not just "do it this way and cross your fingers" advices...and surely I do my best do understand thisngs better, zee you,
HK

Hi-

So you've already read this Sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24584) on the subject, and it didn't answer some of the questions? You might post the log and .avs. I suspect some of the solutions given in the sticky (such as raising the resolution) might allow you to fill the CD.

Not to sound rude, but maybe you should do some real research (try using the Search Engine). Questions 2 and 3 have been discussed ad nauseam.
