"start" button then "launch" (I'm not sure about launch, i've got a french windows)
or "windows" keyboard button + r

then

for registering, exécute:
regsvr32 [Path To Filter.ax]\Filter.ax

for unregistering, exécute:
regsvr32 /u [Path To Filter.ax]\Filter.ax

you need only one filter to play matroska file:
the one from gabest or the one from robux4
[matroska splitter:]http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli

if you want AAC (He AAC), you'll need CoreACC.ax,
http://rarewares.hydrogenaudio.org/aac.html

if you want Vorbis, you'll need CoreVORBIS.ax,
http://corevorbis.corecodec.org/

if you want subtitle, you'll need Vsfilter.dll (restiring for this dll work like ax file).

ac3filter for ac3

ffdshow for mpeg4-video

Or You can use the Matroska playback pack (ver 0.6). It will install Matroska splitter and muxer, CoreVorbis, VSFilter and others. It will also automatically register the filters. It is only one 1.5 MB .exe file. If You want to register the files manually sekxx wrote it well. I would suggest You to put the filters into Windows/system32 directory, where they are usually stored. and don't forget to unregister a filter before update it !

unregister,replace and register.

i think that's why some people have problem even after "updating" to a better matroska splitter.

Someone posted a shell extension around here some place. Once installed, you can just right click and select register or unregister for any .ax file.

Right click on the .ax file, goto 'open with' ... the choose 'others' , goto folder c:\\WinNT\system32\ and select regsvr32.exe .... now, everytime you make 'open with' on an .ax file, Windows will suggest using 'Micrisift Register Server' from the drop-down list .... so easy, and will work for DLL files also ;) ...
