hi there !
Originally posted by karl_lillevold, about DTDrive :
There is a very powerful tool available via the Helix Community. As far as I know you currently have to check out source code and build it yourself...I got it and build a mini gui :
- enables demuxing audio & video streams
- if producer did not finish indexing a file, dtdrive can fix it
i remember once i wished i had this tool :D

very cool :D
[edit]any idea why the gui would work, but copying the commandline generated by the gui into a console and executing wouldn't? Because that's what I'm getting :|

@ RadicalEd
you have to run dtdrive from it's own directory .
ie set your currentdir to ...\dtdrive\ before you launch command line.

ah, yeah, that works, although just decoding (not passthrough) doesn't work for writing to rmvb, and won't write to any other format (failed to find filewriter for designated file). Any ideas?
Holy crap I'm a noob all over again :|

decoding requires decoders for the formats you try to decode.
filewriting to other formats than RM, requires filewriters for those formats.
I tried zedude's GUI and it works nicely for the purposes it was made for, demux and passthrough fix. However, it does not include any other DLLs than those needed for these purposes, I think.

The link to the dtdriver GUI is dead. Unless the author updates or objects, I will make available a copy...

Yes, in fact you can change the display resolution, just like that (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85959). However, this does not change the actual encoded resolution, and it does not make sense to reduce the display resolution (and this might well crash some players as well). If you want to lower the resolution to get lower bitrate, you will have to re-encode.

he wants to "resize to lower rez". Makes no sense.

im do them at that resolution because when im doing my work i can watch my encodes and because also i do them at a smaller bitrate anyway. the are jusr some of the simple settings that i use for a 4:3 show,
Resolution - 336x252
Average Bitrate - 230
MAX Bitrate - 1150
and so far a have always gotten a very high quality encode for the size of the file i need and the resolution.
but as karl said that i can re-encode them to get my resolution, i have tried to get the files to re-encode but as i said last time you help me out i was getting sound problems but if there is a better way or some one knows of a better way then please let me know.
thx in advance
