m2v stream error when ripping with dvddecrypter

Not sure which forum to place this. If I am in the wrong place please move it. I have been experimenting with the new tool rejig on m2v streams ripped from vobs with dvddecrypter. On the 3 movies I ripped: Bulletproof monk, City Slickers 2 and the Wizard of Oz I had problems with the output streams. The rejigged stream would not behave in Tmpg DvdAuthor. You should be able to do a frame by frame scan, seeing several frames on each side of the center. You should also be able to input times for chapters, Every time I tried to input a time the program locked up. I could seek forward but the viewer would be blank. When trying to jump back one frame It would jump back to the very beginning. When I loaded the stream into Tmpgenc, all I got on output was a blank screen. I first thought the problem was with the rejigged streams, but found out it was in the initial ripped streams as well. I ripped the same movies with Smartripper and this did not occur with any of the 3 movies. Everything was normal. Is this a problem with dvddecrypter, do I have something clashing with the software or is this a known stream problem i was too inept to find with my searching skills.

i dont know if this is related or not but...
i recently had problems with using dvddec3.1.7.0 via doitfast4u where the m2v streams created werent recognised by DVD2AVI.
this confused the hell out of me cos i had recently managed a successfull back-up of this movie.
i unstalled 3.1.7.0 and reinstalled 3.1.6.0 (my logic being that i had created the iso of this movie with 3.1.6.0 so maybe this had something to do with it - i know, tenuous at best:rolleyes: but)
for some reason this worked.
like i said, i dont know if the two are related or not, but...

Thanks for your reply. I don't need to rerip because I was able to use smartripper. I couldn't find any mention of this problem and wanted to find out if it was just my problem or perhaps a problem with dvddecrypter.

Try unchecking the new "Patch M2V timecode" option which is on by default in 3.1.7.0.

thanks for the suggestion. i will give it a go when i get home tonight.
for clarification (and the ultimate goal of understanding what i am doing - and reading for that matter :o ), what exactly does the 'patch m2v timecode' do?

If you read the actual setting, you'll see that it patches the first GOPs timecode to 00:00:00
This allows for easy imports into DVDMaestro.
