I have two questions:

1.
How do I determine if my example.avi is of type-1 of type-2?

2.
I use Pinnacle Studio 8 for editing. How do I seperately save the audio to a example_audio.wav. I can't find such an option...

1. There should be an option in Pinnacle Studio 8 to decide whether your project is type-1 or type-2. To decide what it is, you can simply open the AVI in VirtualDub: if you get a type-1 warning, it's type-1, else type-2.

2. There is an option somewhere. I had Pinnacle Studio 8, but unfortunately I uninstalled it a few months ago, so I don't remember exactly where it is. Try the online help system.

Grumble - first reply bombed out - here it is again (mostly)!

I bought studio8, and was extremely disappointed with it. It was extraordinarily limited in it's abilites to do simple things (like you want to do). It couldn't even keep the A/V in sync when creating a DVD from anything other than DV source!

The DVD menu creation is just a joke. I spent over a fortnight struggling with it, and gave up in the end.

Pinnacle support is pretty much non-existant. I never got a reply for a question (which was NOT in their FAQ by the way). I am still waiting (that was over 10 months ago - I aren't holding my breath!).

I would not recommend this software.

Get a decent editor, it will save you time and frustration. I now use Premiere, and would NEVER go back to (spit) studio8 (spit).
