I put in a dvd and hit the load button and it just hangs at analyzing video then failed to rip data error.

I tried unistalling and reinstalling current aspi files and still have no luck. I even tried different dvds, uninstalled old version and reinstalled new dvd2svcd.
Any thoughts?

@ DDogg By the sound of this problem I am unsure we get as far as logfile creation - ot seems to fail at the authentication stage.

@ sleazy. Probably won't work but have you tried the old trick of playing the disc in WinDVD (or whatever you use) for a few seconds before attempting conversion.

Failing that you may have to try an external ripper. However, if different DVD's all do the same it does sound more like aspi...but it seems you've already checked that. Are the aspi files you're using the ones available on the dvd2dvd.org homepage or are they from a separate source?

Oh, heck. I gotta read better. :) I still get this problem occassionally. More lately. I nearly always have to open the dvd with powerdvd first.
