Tmpgenc's Environmental Setting has a "Canopus DV Codec Setting" for interpolating YUV (4:1:1 to 4:4:4) and colorspace.
QUESTION 1:
Does this mean Tmpgenc has built in Canopus DV decompression codec? I hope so.
REASON WHY I THINK SO (but I need confirmation):
I do notice a color change (darker colors, more accurate colors) when I frameserve from Tmpgenc to VirtualDub. My Canopus AVDC100 captures washed out/overly bright DV AVIs that are seemingly color corrected (back to normal non-bright colors) when I feed these DV AVIs into Tmpgenc and frameserve to VirtualDub. If I just open the DV AVI in VirtualDub, the AVI is very bright (I see color noise and gray in what should be black areas) even after using the 4:1:1 Helper VD plugin. So, it would be great if Tmpgenc does Canopus DV decompression (as I am hoping).
Note, I read and saw the DV codec decompression test thread and also preferred the Canopus codec as being the best DV decompressor (sharp and low noise).

What is the best way to ensure that I'm using the Canopus dv codec for decompressing my DV AVIs while using Tmpgenc and VirtualDub for editting AVIs? I don't like AVISynth too much (pain using scripts in a modern day OS) but if it's a simple standard script I don't mind.
Please explain best technique to use Canopus DV decompressor in detail. Thanks.
