I was making a backup of a movie and the VOB file has a preview (trailer) of the movie with no sound. So when I get through the movie has the audio of the start of the movie but starts with a preview. In turn the audio is way off. I have tryed compinsating for it, but after a day and a half of trying I am asking you very smart people if there is a way to cut the preview before the audio is added with gordian knot? Thanks...
I am not sure about this, but I have tryed, Use Nanodub and cut the begining of the movie(preview) and just have the movie and then add the audio.. But the sound is still off.. Is there posibly a way in DVD2AVI to do it? Thanks again..

Hi-
Yes, there's a way to do it in DVD2AVI. Use the "[" and "]" buttons to isolate just the movie portion of the vob files. And I hope you'll be demuxing the audio at the same time.
You can also isolate the movie with AviSynth. If the preview is the first 1000 frames, for example, then adding:
Trim(1000,0)
at the bottom of the script will get just the movie. But that way there's no guarantee the audio will be in synch (I'm not even positive about the DVD2AVI method outlined above). If worst comes to worst though, you can adjust the audio delay when the movie's finished to get it back in synch without reencoding all over again. You can even do that using the method you outlined in your second paragraph.
Are you sure you ripped the movie in IFO Mode to begin with (using DVDDecrypter)?

I'll try those and see what happens.. And Yes, I am using DVD Decrypter.. But I have a question. If I cut the movie with DVD2AVI, would that mess with the movies sound? Just thought I would ask.. Thanks...

Hi-
And Yes, I am using DVD Decrypter.
Yes, but is it set for IFO Mode? In the new versions, it's no longer the default. Look up at the top in Mode and make sure that "IFO" is checked (and not "File"). When ripping in IFO Mode, the trailer is not supposed to be part of the main movie files (usually).
If I cut the movie with DVD2AVI, would that mess with the movies sound?
Never know 'til you try, I guess. :)

It's been a long while since I've used [] for encoding with sound, but to the best of my recollection, demuxed sound appeared to be in synch.
I use [] often, but for other purposes, such as analyzing individual scenes or "skipping" past NTSC leaders to test Force FILM on main content.
