Hello all. For compatiblity reasons I was trying to figure out how to add a video_ts.vob file to a finished IC8 project. Searching the forums, the best I found was the following advice:

>>
Get an empty VOB file and rename it to VIDEO_TS.VOB. Then use ifo edit and strip VOB id's from the VIDEO_TS (select everything so nothing is in fact stripped). Copy the new files back to your original DVD folder.

Use IfoEdit to get the VTS_SECTORS. and of you go one playable DVD.
<<

Some questions . . .

1. Is this the best way?

2. How exactly do you obtain a blank video_ts.vob file?

3. "Then use ifo edit and strip VOB id's from the VIDEO_TS (select everything so nothing is in fact stripped)." My knowledge of ifoedit is a bit limited, so I am confused about exactly what this means. Can someone please clarifiy this a little?

Thanks in advance,

-Chu

I've heard people report that DVDFab can make a VIDEO_TS.VOB for an IC movie only backup. It's a simple one-button-click solution. You might want to give it a try - the old, free version can do it so it doesn't cost anything to try.

You can use the original VIDEO_TS.VOB, put it in the VIDEO_TS folder, get VTS sectors and you are set. Usually it's very small and it doesn't ruin the overall size.

Thanks for the reply. Those are definatly much easier! I'll try the copying trick when I get home (no i-net connection outside of work thanks to the ISP from hell), and will see how DVDFab works the next time I hit one of those disks with a several hundred meg video_ts.vob file.

Just a note to anyone trying this, if you are using the "just copy the video_ts.vob" method, it does not work if you are burning with ImgTool since the resultant ifo's and bup's are different after adjusting sectors.

OK, so I haven't tested my 'solution' with IMGTools, but Nero and RecordNowMax accept it, so...
