I open, backup and burn...and at some points the picture gets a little digitized and even sometimes skips a bit of the film. Quality is good, but this is annoying. The source is an original DVD.
Anyone have a solution or know a way to prvent this problem from happening in the future?
Thanks!!

You're not giving us enough to work with.
1) What kind of media are you using?
2) How did you burn the disc (program, settings)?
3) Does the disk play ok on your PC?

1) Generic dvd-r (H2O 2X - I burn at 2X)
2) Burn in Nero Express under the Video TS folder
3) Haven't tested it on PC yet...but it's a good thought and I will try it our now and report.
I use Shrink 3 beta 5 and I used the back-up option instead of re-author (size was good enough)

Sounds like a media problem to me... Try another brand DVD-R, a quality brand and see if that fiixes your problem...

While typing this question I thought that might be the answer....any opinions on what is a "good" (cheaper) media and your thoughts on a good on-line place to grab them would be a great help. Thanks again!

Ok no prob, Ritek are about the best you can get! I use the Ritek & Maxell only. There are more that are great but these are the ones that I have the best luck with, zero coasters with these. I got mine for about a buck each in a spidle of 100, off ebay. Good Luck!

DVD-R
I've always been impressed with the 2x Ritek G03 media (actually 1x, but burns at 2x in most burners except Pioneer). You can buy it from here: http://www.meritline.com/ritekg03dvdr.html
Their 4x Ritek G04 media is also good, though might not burn at 4x for all users. You can buy it from here: http://www.meritline.com/ritekg04dvdr.html
I also like the BeAll DVD-R media as it has good quality and the disc face has no stacking ring which allows full face labels to sit completely flat on the disc, no bubbling up. You can buy it from here: http://www.meritline.com/samdvdblanme.html
DVD+R
Well, BeAll has DVD+R media as well, including the no stacking ring type. Same URL: http://www.meritline.com/samdvdblanme.html
Ritek also makes some good DVD+R media which you can order from here: http://www.meritline.com/ritekdvdpr.html
Note that here in CA, I can usually pick up TDK and Memorex 4x DVD+R media (made by Ritek) on sale for as low as $1.20 each in packages of 25-100.
But hopefully that will help you out.
(PS - I used to hate Meritline.com for their very bad business practices. They have, however, seemed to have improved tremendously which is why I listed them as the place to buy the media.)

@manfrog
I used to be having hella problems with Shrink (and, even, Recode) just like you described. Since I started burning my disks with CopytoDVD, however, the problems went away. I do most of my burning on Ritek +R, since they seem to offer the best compromise (at least, that I've found) between cost and quality. If you're using Nero, you may find -- just like me -- that there's just something about Shrink files that cause the burned copy to "stutter" and pause periodically. Funny, really; Nero's never failed me when burning Maestro-authored disks, nor did Nero ever crap out on DVD2ONE projects.
You might want to download the free trial of CopytoDVD and see if that solves your problems. You can test it by using DVD Decrypter -- or even Shrink -- to copy one of your problem disks back to your hard drive, then burn that file to a RW.
I remember when certain versions of Nero were reported to cause problems with DVD2ONE projects. Maybe it's just Nero.
Hope that helps!
