View Full Version : BBMpeg Program error.

I have a 2.4GHZ Intel Pentium, 512 MB DDRAM, 80 GIG Hardrive.

Been using DVD2SVCD for a while now with successful & Incredible reults, until recently, I was backing up Triple X and I came back and I got an error that told me that their was an incorret Bit, this was happening at the BBMpeg Muxing & Cutting Stage. I tried again, and it said the same thing, but this time it said the "File could not be found", It was talking about the Mpeg file that is being encoded and created.

I decided to back up K-PAX and got the same error. I have not idea as to what this error means, but basically what is happening is that the Mpeg file is not being created. I checked to see if TMPGEnc was doing it's job and it seems to be doing it.

Ive tried changing around the settings, but still no help, so this was my last resort.

I also changed some of my settings, and upgraded, but still no luck...

Here is the log:-

As you can see, the problem seems to be in the Multiplexing & Cutting area.

If anyone has any idea as to what this is, please reply back.

@DivXerouS,

I've looked at your log several times and cannot find the reason for the error, except you do some unusual things like using 5.1 audio and not using separate folders for the different type of files.

Can you check that the output from TMPGEnc is OK, by playing it with a software player? (You may have to rename it to MPG temporarily.)

Hi all,

May be it is not related with the problem, but it looks strange to me.

You are using a folder called Yusuf, located on your desktop to store all the files, isn't it?. So, this folder should be in C: drive. (I don't know if it is possible to locate it in another drive, like with "My documents" folder).

Assuming it is C: drive (as D2S believes), the log file do not reflects any free disk space consumption, so seems Yusuf folder is located in other drive.

No I am not doing weird things, the only thing I did was change the location from C:\ProgramFiles\DVD2SVCD\Movie where everything was being saved to before to my desktop folder Yusuf\Ripped, where now everything is being saved. I have been doing this since I had the program and with no problem, because every file is gets created, doesn't seem to conflict with anything else because every file is almost a different format with a different name. So I really don't think my folder could be the problem.

Now the Audio 5.1 option your talking about isn't that the highest option and the best possible setting available, because before I used to use Joint Stereo until I read somewhere, not sure, any suggestions..?

The problem according to my search is that the TMPGEnc file does NOT get created. I cannot find it in non of the folders...it's really weird, because I see TMPGEnc encoding and then when it reaches the Multiplexing stage the error occurs...

Yes I do unusual things with my PC, that's called the learning process...:sly:

jsoto pointed out something very strange. Can you check if any file is created at all, and where do they go?

From the
DVD2SVCD Doom9's Guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm) (Advanced reference):
MPEG 5.1
Creates two front channels, two rear channels and center channel. Must use I-Author (CD Image tab) to mux video and audio. Only a very select few dvd players can play SVCD 5.1 audio. Uses phillips MPEG 5.1 Encoder.

About the problem,
I only can understand the log file if Yusuf folder is in a drive different than C:. And, in the case of problems with the free space in this drive, you still can get all the files but not the encoded video one (the biggest one).

And now, the actual reason to post again..

IMHO, this is not absolutely exact.
Must use I-Author (CD Image tab) to mux video and audio
but, I completely agree with
Only a very select few dvd players can play SVCD 5.1 audio.

Well, there are lots of threads talking about 5.1 in SVCDs, mainly in audio forum, but I think a reader will be finally confused, because some of them are contradictory. I’m going to share my experience, because, in the past, I spent a lot of time in this area, but also, it is not definitive (from my point of view).

I have only one friend who owns a desktop able to play 5.1 SVCDs (if I remember well, a Thomson 4200, but not sure), and I did some test using it. I’ve done the first test disc following hypercube’s guide, but then I try with different muxing and authoring programs. I have tested only the first two in my friend’s player, but both with success.

DISC# Muxing/Authoring
Disc1 TMPGENc/Nero
Disc2 bbmpeg/VCDXbuild
Disc3 I-Author/I-Author
Disc4 I-Author/VCDXbuild

But no one of them play 5.1 in my standalone neither using the digital output (bitstream, not PCM). I own a Thomson 5200DHT which, as it is stated in its manual, it is able to manage MPEG2-5.1, but it should be only in DVDs (I did not test it). Digital output was connected to a Phillips receiver with MPEG2 5.1 logo in its front.

So, IMHO, when muxing with bbmpeg and authoring with vcdxbuild (default in dvd2svcd and freeware) may be the resulting SVCD is not absolutely standard compliant, but it is a valid method to do 5.1 SVCDs. (Although vcxbuild logs it is writting a stereo channel..)

But, my personal recommendation is:

Forget 5.1 in SVCDs. If you really want to have a 5.1 sound go to DVD or (if CD media is mandatory) go to miniDVDs. Today it is much more easier to find a desktop able to play miniDVDs (where you can put true ac3 sound) than SVCDs MPEG2 5.1.

You can find helpful info about 5.1 SVCDs in hypecube's web site: http://hypercube.is.dreaming.org/

Well apparently I didn't figure out why I was getting such a cryptic error, and I decided to go back to my joint stereo setting in the audio tab, and you know what it's working again....weird*
