View Full Version : Subtitles will not play when using VP6 codec

Hello,

I've encoded some animes into VP6 and I muxed them into an OGM with 2 Oggs and a subtitle. The 2 audios and the video play well but the subtitle never plays. I know the subtitle works because I muxed them into a XVID video and they showed. I also was thinking that maybe it's my video player.... so I tryed using CoreCodec, MPC, WMP 8, and WMPC. None of them worked. I used the following when encoding the VP6;


Target Daterate 100
Noise Reduction 0
Autokeyframe ON
Max Frames Btw Keys 320
Undershoot 90
Adjusted Quantizer ON
Minimum 1
Maximum 15
Temporal Resampling ON
Down watermark 20
Spatial Resampling ON
Down watermark 35
Up watermark 20


I hope someone can help me because I wish to use VP6.

P.S. Even MKVs would not work.

when playing the files have you made sure to have CC on for wmp? Also is the sub track named the same as the video track ?

From his post, he seems to know how to load and use subs :)

The SRT is a working file. I tryed it with a XVID and DVIX 5.1 video in a OGM and a MKV but still no luck with VP6.

Is it proper to have the Spatial Resampling down watermark above the up?

I'm having problems with OGM (an MKV) files and subtitles to with this codec. They play for me, but they gradualy go out of synch when directly muxed into the file. I can load the AVI, audio and subs seperatly in BSPlayer and they play fine.

I think it was like that by default, and I still don't think that would stop a SRT from playing. BTW, I'm using FFDSHOW 20031028, OGGDS 0.9.9.5, Matroska playback 0.6, and MPC 6467.

I have actually gotten this to work with VP6, but perhaps not with the same process. I believe when installing subrip there was a registry tweak that needed to be done in order to view subtitles. I am not sure atm but will attempt to look this over and get back to you.
