Comment on newer Anime sources

Just a misc. thought -

After having to have to be subjected to poor anime sources with mixed video content, poor transfers, noise incorporation, etc., (Neon Genesis, Nadesico, Lodoss War...)

It's so refreshing to finally have crisp, clean source material with newer releases! (Full Metal Panic, .hack, s-CRY-ed). No noise filters, very crisp encodes.

Well that's simple enough to understand. Back when many anime were created even if they were done largely digitally they were then mastered to film and tapes and the original data all but destroyed. Only recently has there been a culmination of technologies to allow digital distribution of digital works to the end user. It has long been a fact that even if some frames are hand drawn, for years now most of the animation in Japan has been done largely on computer systems. Which is an interesting subject in and of itself. The aid of digital technology has allowed the Japanese to take their animations to a whole new level. Most animation here in the US is now done in a similar manner. But the funny thing is that instead of becomming more detailed and stunning they have since become even more flat and massproduced here in the US. That and the general attitude that cartoons are strictly for children is very disheartening.

That's true, but I am glad to see that anime is starting to become more widely accepted as an adult entertainment format as well, especially for certain series and movies. There's been some really interesting debate concerning that at the forums at GreenCine.

Well outside the groups of rabbid DB/Z/GT, pokemon, yugiho, etc fans there are a few that really understand it and enjoy all it's nuances. But about the only time you are likely to see more than a handfull at one time(which is rare enough as is) is an animecon. But then again many of them are so far gone I can't relate to them either. :p On a whole what little I watch anime etc comprises the lion's share. Though I have never had a compulsion to dress as one of the characters. :D Though Vash does have excelent duds.

I guess Japanese animation is becomming quite common here. But the sad fact is that no one realises it is. They are used to the current batch of crappy US animation and just chalk up the fact that the characters mouths don't match up with the words they are saying to that fact. Last time I saw a major network saturday morning lineup nearly 90% of the content was either wholely or largely derived from Japanese series. And none of them were that good in the first place.:sly:

Why has Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust such a bad quality? Why?

Is the european/japanese version better than the us version?

Modern digital TV at it's best :devil:. Most of this is fixable though, but it requires manual intervention and a lot of patience.

The fields may be mixed but they are still sharp and clear. :P
