Can somone help? I would like to use the Header Trick Plugin, but there are dead links. Is there a mirror to the header trick plug in? If not, is there a way to do it without a plugin? (without stoping the process befor cd image and using tmpgemc then resuming)

Hi, @ditto_n,

According to dacow, it was expected that DVD2SVCD would support the VCD header trick internally with bbMPEG settings. I'm not sure if thit was actually done or not, but you may try setting bbMPEG options to mux as VCD (doube click on VCD).

Please come back with the results.

Well, I made a small little anime clip, and chose to convert it to svcd, changed bbmpeg to vcd instead of Svcd, and then opened up the result file in tmpgenc, it said it was still a mpeg2 vbr, but the audio was mpeg1, so im guessing that bbmpeg only made the audio vcd. Maybe there is a way to make avisynth change the header? Incase you were wondering im using CCE to encode video.

The infamous header trick has to do with the file structure on the CD. Try burning your image on a CD-WR and see if your player can handle it then.

AviSynth cannot help you there, nor CCE. The thing is to make look the file structure as a VCD, and that has to do with muxing/authoring.

I know my standalone plays VCD-way created images (non standard) even if they have SVCD frame size. Maybe yours can too.

Exactly why I want to do it R6, My dvd player ( Sony DVP-400D ) Can play svcds with a vcd header, but I cant get D2S to do it automaticly. When I put the bbMpeg settings on Vcd, even if everything else is set to Svcd, it makes the audio Mpeg1, but the header still says Mpeg2(VBR)

Well, seems that D2S itself cannot do it, is spite of dacow's announcement on the matter. :(

Did you try to contact dacow by e-mail? He last posted on Sep. 23, but he may be unaware of the dead links.

Also, post on the VCD Header Trick plugin (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42406) thread. Maybe some of the users there can provide you a copy. I'm pretty sure at least jorel has one in his archives. He collects stuff ;)

Well thanx Nick but I have tried that link for the last 2 months and it always turns out it is a dead link. So if any one knows where I can get a copy of the plugin I would greatly appreciate it very much.

Thanx

Sorry, it worked for me a while ago. I just assumed it was OK.

You'll have to do it by hand for now but I'll see if Dacow is about and try to get him to update the link.

Hi,

You could try..
Go to Misc. Tab and in field DVD2SVCD level choose Advanced.
Then, in bbMPEG Tab click on Advanced Settings.
When bbMPEG Output Settings window is openned, choose SVCD stream Type (double click). After that, you need to change Buffer size from 230 to 46KB (this Buffer size is use normally for VCD!).

It works for me (I have a Panasonic RV32 player)
