I do all my encoding AVI2DVD. (Encoding divx/xvid to put on a dvd to watch on my player) The problem im having is that the output of the file is fairly large (3+ gigs.) Now i have read that is not in one's best interest to just put this large file on a dvd at that size. (my player will play mpg files without authoring) So, what i have been doing is encoding using AVI2DVD and then taking the file and splitting it into smaller size files. Is this the best way to do this or is there a way to have D2S do the splitting for me... say at 1 gig.?

Thanks in advance

I have not tried it with DVD output, but what about selecting media size to 900, for instance?

If the output was a DVD-frame size SVCD, I know this would work (you should have "Don't delete any files" checked.

[Add:]Why large files shoud be avoided? Can you give me the reference to the source of that statement?

Its not the large file size that is an issue. Here is the scenario. I take a divx file, and run it through AVI 2 DVD, It outputs one large file. My DVD player has some troube supporting file over 2 gigs, which i believe alot of dvd players do. So i have to take that one large file and split it up into smaller files, under 2 gig, inorder for them to play correctly on the standalone.

Read errors are for some reason more common towards the outer edge of DVD-R's but with high quality media this shouldn't be a problem. Look out for media with the Ritek G04 dye and you may well find that solves the problem. Having had prblems with various media types I now exclusively use the Ritek 4x discs and have no problems whatsoever.

The bitrate tab idea R6D2 suggested should work fine. Failing that get TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will make cutting, editing and authoring DVD's from your D2S output files a doddle.

Uh... This sounds as if you were using a sort of FAT16 file system. Well, I don't have a clue on what are the file systems a DVD uses, particularly that one of yours which I guess plays MPEG2 files as mine plays MP3.
