DVD to DVD

Can anyone tell me what are the best tools to extract some few seconds sequences from a DVD and burn it back to a DVD ? I edit in DV inbetween for fades and effets....

I now use DVD Decrypter + avisynth MPEG2DEC3 + virtualdub with DV compression + Premiere for DV edition + TMPGENC + Nero.

Any other suggestion to improve the quality would be appreciated.

Should I suppress the DV step ? Then what is your suggestion ?

exactly right... if you need the avi (iirc you do for premiere), go for huffyuv (or equal)... this will eliminate one lossy step...

oh and btw: rule 12 states:
