I got the drive today feeling all happy and all and decided to test to see if it reads all types of discs as advertised. This is where the problem starts...

It can read dvd video w/o any probs, but on some of my cdrs, it doesn't want to read, for instance, I burned a Samsung CDR using the drive itself, it burnt successfully, but when I tried to read it from the drive, it keeps searching for a disc and trying to recognize it and it never recognizes it. The same with my Memorex 4X CDRWs that arent even a few months old. Worst yet, it can't even read my Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne installation disc, the original copy too!! All my discs are in perfect condition w/o any scratches. The drive I made sure to update it to the latest firmware, 1.03 but it didnt seem to fix the prob. My secondary drive, a TDK 48X12X48 burner reads all my discs perfectly.

The jumper setting for the plextor is set to master while the TDK is slave with both drives connected to the Secondary IDE port. Here's my system config:

Abit IC7-G
P4 2.6
512 ddr400
60 gig ibm, 2 x 80 gig WD in SATA raid
TDK cdrw
Plextor 8x:angry:
GF4 Ti4200
SB Audigy platinum
480W Antec TruPower

*Any ideas on what the problem might be before I RMA and put back my old DVD-ROM which works perfectly?
