View Full Version : how to edit windows media

I used a ATI wonder card to record a show the other day and some how screwed up and recorded it in windows media format.

I want to covert it to SVCD, but I can't seem to find anything that will edit it or convert it to another format that worth using.

I can use TMPGEnc to encode it for SVCD, but the end product is really bad.

The orginal file is just shy of 4 gigs. 320x240 30fps (689kbs)

Anyone have a suggestion.

What codec did you use?

D9: Does your question have anything to do with DVD2SVCD? Assuming yes, I move your thread to the basic forum.

Yes it does have something to do with DVD2SVCD or at least I think it does, because I use VirtualDub to edit and convert to avi and then use DVD2SVCD to make a SVCD.

The end product always turns out good. It's just this time I recorded something and I forgot to check the settings.

I have no Idea what codec was used. The capture card has several different settings to choose from and I forgot to switch it back after experimenting with different setups.

Is there anyway to find out what codec was used? The only info I can gather is that it's a mpeg movie file.

I think you may get better help in the less specific forums. In spite of what you think, you are facing a codec/settings quality problem and this has nothing to do with what DVD2SVCD can do for you.

Well, your input file should have some sort of header. Try using the properties sheet or the player's properties. Use your source, not the encoded file.

BTW, 320x240 is very likely to be a bad quality source anyway, interlaced and all, and I think you will not be able to improve it much beyond a good deinterlacing. Go to the capture forum to get recomendations for a good capture. They know their stuff very well. Maybe the station will run the show again soon ;)

And @redeyes, we are very glad to serve you, but show some good will and read the stickies (2nd warning) and try to post where aproppriate. It is not that difficult, is it?

(As of now you're qualifying to the "Sinatra" Newbie category, and we have so many of them that you'll have fierce competition. :D)

R6D2 I would like thank you for your input into the my problem, but I think I'll take my business else where.

I'm a member of several different forums and I have never meet so many uptight and anal know it alls. (on this forum)

There's other forums where people are allot nicer and don't keep track of mistakes.

SO LONG

Well, I'll miss you truly. But I'm grateful because you saved me a lot of strikes.

I always prefer reasoning first instead of striking, but you know, it takes two to tango.

Good luck.
