Since I upgraded my OS from Win98 to XPPro, I have been unable to burn SVCDs that play in my stand a lone player (JVC). The image quickly deteriorates with bars of pixels crossing the screen and the audio becomes qarbled. Eventually the the disc becomes unplayable. I didn't have this problem before the upgrade and haven't changed my media (from Staples).

I use DVD2SVCD w/TEMPenc 2 pass VBR encoded to rip, encoded and mux the mpeg file (which plays fine on my computer). Then I use EasyVCD to make the disc image and burn with my Sony CD-R (set at 12x). I have also had these problems with SVCD disc images I've down loaded from USENET.

When I upgraded I had to reinstall all of my programs and that was when the problems started. I would apreciate any help anyone could give me.

Thanks,

It's not easy to know how to solve your problem but here's some suggestions:

1) Test older discs that you know have worked before and see if they work on your standalone player. Maybe something have happened with your player (maybe needs cleaning, or has become broken) and it just happened at the same time as when you upgraded your PC as a coincidence.

2) Check your burning software. If you have problems also with downloaded disc images it seems that something is wrong with the burning. Check that you have DMA enabled. Try some other CD burning software like Nero. If your files works in the PC but not on the standalone player this also indicates some problem in the transfering to CD.
