How do you actually solve the problem where IC8 encoded movie comes at under 4GB?

Hi,

I've found if you change your registry settings as per below then it sorts it on most films:-

Open Regedit and navigate to:- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VOB\CD Wizard\7.5\Copy]

Then alter these settings:

"DVDDestSize"=dword:00001189 sets it to 4489MB

"DVDDestDisplaySize"=dword:00001189 sets it to 4489MB

"DVDAnalyzeMaxRel"=dword:00000020 sets it to 32%

"DVDAnalyzeMinAbs"=dword:00000020 sets it to 32 x 2.5MB packets that get analysed

"DVDSaveQuality"=dword:00000000 sets the safety margin to 0MB

"DVDSaveFast"=dword:00000000 sets the safety margin to 0MB

"DVDAutoFast"=dword:00000064 stops it from setting it to Fast setting

"DVDAlwaysEnableOkButton"="True" obvious

that is strange as most of my underszing issues went away with my settings above

are you doing just movie only and are you using IC to strip the movie only out or feeding IC the movie only?

I used IfoEdit to strip everything I did not want.
Now I have 1 audio and 1 subtitle and it is 4.9GB.
In IC8 I use movie only and high quality.
I end up with 3.33 GB

have you tried using IC8 to strip out the movie only?

you could use try using DVDShrink to rip just the movie & audio/subs you want or the old DVDToolbox

I'm not so sure it would work but you never know with IC :rolleyes:

This is crazy.
If I use High quality setting in IC8 with above modification movie panic room comes at 3.33GB
If I use high speed setting it comes at 4.35.

What is the difference between these two mods?

The difference is in the quality and speed.

High Quality - slow but gives you the best quality output

High Speed - fast but gives lower quality picture

The reason in size difference, lies in the fact that in order to give you that high quality, the size prediction is not accurate sometimes.
