Sounds like

DivX General Midi

and would be a soundfile...

Ok, just kidding. What does GSpot (find it in doom9's download area) tell about it? Maybe the file got broken (hm. downloaded, illegal file?) and thus has a wrong fourcc.

I saw a posting in another forum and the person said it was for an AVI used in a game. Apparently GSpot didn't have any info on that fourCC.

golly good show....this is the homeworld 2 avi containers...

apparently its divx an u need to modify the header in hex editor...

does anyone know how?

I seem to remember that the movies in the Homeworld 2 Demo had 'DXGM' so presumably one of the DLLs included ought to be able to decode it.

but i have the full game, and see the .dll where then in my system do i copy it to?

i tried in windvd bin folder but it wont read the avi....

do i wanna pit the *.dll in the win32 folder?

While one of the DLLs is likely used to decode the video, it is unlikely that it is usable with any standard video decoding framework.

You may have luck trying to change the FOURCC to something that FFDshow is set to open. As it can decode numerous formats, it might be able to decode this. I doubt it though.
