TMPG doesn't want to multiplex wav files with mpeg2 files. I had to reencode the wav file to mpeg2 in order to multiplex video and audio. Is there a programme that can multiplex pcm audio and mpeg video without reencoding?

Also, how comes that WMP 9 doesn't want to play pcm audio if it's in a mpeg container? I had an mpeg file, which consisted of an mpeg2 video stream and a pcm audio stream. I have the intervideo video and audio codecs installed, also the normal pcm decoder, of course. I tried to play this file in WMP 9, the player played the video all right, but didn't play the audio. But after demultiplexing the pcm stream to a wav file using TMPG WMP 9 played the wav file all right! So how comes it plays pcm audio, if it's in a wav file, but doesn't play exactly the same stream if it's in a mpeg file? A decoder doesn't care where a file is located, right? If it can play back the stream, then it should play it from everywhere, from wav or from an mpeg container or an mpeg 4 container or whatever.

I think wav can only go into a DVD, which is why when you try to encode a dvd with wav, it gets encoded as [m2v+wav]. Then you use your authoring tool to multiplex them in a vob file. It's quite possible that bbmpeg can multiplex wav into a mpeg file, but I'm not sure. Give it a shot.

BTW, don't use WMP9 for mpeg-2 playback. (Hell, don't use it at all.) Try a different player or if you are like me, use your DVD software in media mode to play back your mpeg files.
