I understand that Nandub screws up muxing ac3. So, I used avimux-gui to mux ac3. But, I like to cut or split the avi in Nandub (setting all audio streams in avi audio). Would that affect ac3 audio stream in an adverse way?
Thanks in advance..

I think there is no problem in doing it in Nandub. But why are you still using the Nandub, even if the better VirtualDubMod is there and ofcourse it has all features of Nandub.
For ac3 muxing the easiest muxer is VDM,and I suggest you to use it instead of Nandub.Look here for more: http://www.doom9.org/vdubmod-procedures.htm

Do not use Nandub for AC3 any longer! By splitting in Nandub you may split an AC3 frame in the middle which leads to broken audio frames at the end of your first part (and maybe in the beginning of the second).
Use VirtualDubMod as Tuning recommended or find your precise cut point and then let AviMuxGUI do the cutting.

Thanks, Tuning and Tiki4. So, once I find out the precise cut point in vdm (frame number), I go into output option in avimux and specify the frame number in the split section. Is my understanding of the procedure correct?
By the way, Tuning, is there an easy way to extract ac3 with more gain (higher volume)?
Thanks once again...

I think you need to re-encode ac3 in BeSweet with more gain.I don't know exactly.I always increase the Master volume of ac3 filter for loud sound :D .I think you cannot extract ac3 from DVD with more gain.May be Tiki4 will have an answer.

Dunno. I think there are no flags in an AC3 stream that can be manipulated directly (like L_WING_GAIN in Ogg Vorbis :D ). Your only choice is re-encoding, I think, but keep your fingers from AC3Machine unless you can live with the issues it has (search the forum for details). Anyway use Valex's ac3filter for playback as tuning suggested. You get a manifold on configuration and downmix options which may help improve specific issues.

Guys, what's up?
I PM'd Tuning about this mess I have created obviously and also removed the offending part of my post (sorry!). It seems you either couldn't see the smilie I had attached or you didn't get that it was just a joke.
So, no more joking from my side in this thread.
I just wanted to say that I only try to help other people as I'm quite interested in audio encoding myself and I tried lots of things already. If someone jumps into a discussion I'm quite happy about that. I also hope that other people like what I try to contribute sometimes. I'm not here to offend anyone. If so, my apologies once more.

I hope Tuning reads the mail I sent to him. I hope that this clears things and that I didn't chase off cogd115, hehe.
