I capture the screen and crop the video portion to get a relatively decent bmp image of a single frame. I use the slider to pick the frames I want.

The problem is there are still noticeable jagged lines throughout the image. It is cleary much better than a interlaced frame but I need to do better.

Any good suggestions?

The only decent "image from video" software that I have come across is "Video Pics" which is a plugin for Adobe Premiere. The company that sells it has recently released a stand-alone version (called Paparatzi - I think) and are no longer selling the plugin.

It is expensive, about 200 US. Redhawk vision.

I have used smart-bob in VDub with really excellent results when shown on a TV! Still only looks moderate on a computer screen though. I haven't seen any of the 'lines' you talk about (are you talking residual interlace lines?).

Also, are your captures from video tape (SP or LP) or live?
