View Full Version : Converting AC3 audio from AVI films?

Could anyone on the forum give me some advice on AC3 audio? As I have downloaded some AVI movies on the past with AC3 audio and the problem starts when I want to convert the film into the DVD format!

This is what I normally do:

1. Split the audio and video using Virtual Dub. If Virtual Dub doesnt like the audio e.g. AC3 I then use Goldwave to extract the audio from the movie. (I save all audio as uncompressed WAV files)

2. I then create an Avisynth script into order to convert the film to 25fps (PAL).

3. I then load the Avisynth script file into MC encoder to create a DVD compliant mpeg2 file.

etc etc...

To cut a long story short the problem starts when I play the created DVD on my Television the sound is awful and I need to fully increase the volume in order to at least obtain a semi acceptable sound level.

This only seems to happen with films encoded using AC3 sound but funnily enough not all films I have converted using AC3 are that bad that I need to fully increase the volume on the Television. (must just depend on the way it was originally encoded)

I usually use TMPG DVD Author and the audio stream is (mpeg2 224kbps)

Is there anything I can do to increase/convert the sound output from the original AC3 audio in order to obtain an acceptable sound level on my Televison?

Thanks

First of all this isn't good for you.So please read forum rules, especially #6.
For solution of the problem, there are many threads around here.Try searching "volume+ac3".

Knoxy,

I'm closing this thread because, as Tuning explained to you, you'll want to review the forum rules, especially #1 and #6. Also take a look at this announcement regarding our policy on downloaded files: http://forum.doom9.org/announcement.php?s=&forumid=6

Additionally I'd recommend reading through the stickies in the audio forum, this is not a new issue. If you still have questions after reading those, the search button should hold all your answers.
