looking for a pause button for you encoding?

look no further. this may be of interest those looking to pause that encoding or any win app. try this app from Sysinternals called Process Explorer, found at http://www.sysinternals.com/. it has a suspend option that could come in handy sometimes and it also shows you what else's run in windows that isn't too apparent. not really advertizing but if anyone was looking for that option then this app does it.

Personaly I use MPEGmediator 1.5 to create 2pass DivX and WMV9 VCM files. This already has a pause button!

I just reduce the process priority (use ATM for Win9x) of the encoder, when something else has to be done.

but if you wanted to pause your app to test another app for cpu and hd performance or something like that, a pause might serve a more valuable function. but priority might be an easy way to allow for other uses of your windows. actually i've thought about it and might've done it before, but seeing it in this app, it's pretty nice to just halt a app with lesser worries of it running or moving things on your hd or what ever it has to do. well, whatever serve the purpose.

(I believe in the pstools, there is tool called pssuspend.exe which can do it from the commandline, I find it useful at least when using producer.exe to create RMV files :) )

In TMPGEnc you can use the "about" screen to pause it :)

if i want to pause encoding, in Windows XP / 2000 i press:

1.
Ctrl + Alt + Delete

2.
click processes tab

3.
highlight Cinemacraft Encoder sp v2.50.exe, right click

4.
set priority > low

and the encoding just pauses.
