ok im new here so apologies if this is in the wrong section or if it offends anyone reading it ...
im using TMPGenc to convert an .avi movie into a .mpg movie so that it will fit onto an svcd and play on my home dvd player. im having t cut the movie up into 2 so that it fits better but thats not too much of a problem. only thing is, when i encode the movie from .avi into .mpg then it seems to lose any audio on it...:(
anyone know where im going wrong?
ty:)

Moved the thread because it was in the wrong group.
What kind of audio does your avi contain (AC3 or MP3)?

Use gspot for avi information. You can get it Here (http://www.doom9.net) Replace Tmpgencs audio encoder with toolame. It works much better. If the audio is vbr you would be better off to save it as a wave in VirtualDub and encode it seperately with BeSweet.

No I mean gspot. It is on that page. You may have to click one of the category headers to have it show all entries.

toolame is also a program you can get it from the same place as gspot, located under audio I believe. Just unzip it. It does not require installation. Under the options-->audio tab of tmpgenc select external encoder and have it point to the toolame dll in your unzipped directory.

BeSweet is an audio transcoding application. BeSweet itself is a command line program but from the same web site you can download an excellent Gui for it. Download Besweet and its Gui, place in the same directory and enjoy. I have found these two programs to be indispensable when working with audio. For more info on it read the BeSweet sticky on the audio forum.
Everybody was a newbie at one time. The best way to learn how to do this stuff is to lurk in the forum reading what others are saying. Several of the problems I ran into I was able to overcome because Of post I had already read.
