I am using V3 Beta 5.....
Question 1....
When the app does the analysis in the initial stage (aftering opening disk), it spits out a list of the files on the DVD and there correponding size (i.e. 550mb for one episode). But when I re-author and move that file over it says 900+mb's? Why such a big jump and can I get it doen to the original size without using the auto/manual compression?
Question 2....
Is there a way to record in widesreen in Shrink? Everything seems to come out in 4:3 ratio and stretched?
Sorry if these questions have been answered before, I tried to search and didn't find the answer I am looking for.
Thanks m8's!!

Question 1:
The question is kind of apples and oranges. The size changes because in full disk mode some of the 4.7 GB disk space is being used for menus and extras. In reauthor mode the menus and extras are not present so there is more room for the episodes. Click the ratio button in both modes and it might shed some light on what's going on.
I'm not sure what you mean by original size, but the only way to control the size is to manually adjust the ratio, or change the size of the disk in the options dialog.
Question 2:
Okay, I don't really understand the question. DVDShrink, being a transcoder, doesn't change any aspect ratios. What you get is what was present on the original DVD.

i think he means when you resize the DVDshrink window, the video in the preview pane becomes stretched/squashed.

Q1:
Do you try to reauthor the main movie?
does it contain more than one title?
If yes - then perhaps it is a seamless-branching type, meaning 2 movies (theatrical + extended edition maybe)which share some cells.
By reauthoring, you break this branching, resulting two 'stand-alone' titles with full length/size.
Q2:
think Catatonic got it right.
Shrink doesn't change original AR.

Q1 (the real answer)
right after you do open disc in shink 3.0, it will do automatic compression to make it fit on a plank disc, that is it only show 4.5gb (that is with the compression), when you got to reathor, the files are not compressed anymore, and they are thier full size (a dual layer disc will be about 9gb) When you do reauther, you pick out the parts you want to keep, if you dont want to compress anything, then you are limited as to how many items you can include on you blank dvd, the main movie will fit, and mabey a trailer or 2 (some more features if you are lucky) If you want more features than you will have to compress something (like it id when you first opend the disc). Keep in mind that when you reathor do do not get to keep the menus, you can only keep the menus if back up the entire dvd.

@jawzforlife
I don't understand what you mean about reauthor not compressing anymore. When I drag titles over to the reauthor window in 3b5, their compression is on automatic. If the combined titles are larger than 4,464 MB, they're automatically compressed to fit to 4,464 MB, albiet at a higher ratio than full disk.
Could you explain what you mean when you say "the files are not compressed anymore"?

@Kedirekin
So when you reathor, and drag your desierd titles into the "i want to use" screen, the and DVD srink 3.0 beta does auto compression. I could be wrong (I'll check when I get home), but When I go to reathor, and drag my wanted titles over, they dont auto compress. I would have to compress them if needed. But I rarelly use compression in reathor mode, because if I reauthor I only take the main movie and a trailer, which will be less than 4.5gb. So from my experiances (from what I can remember) when I do reatuer and grag stuff over, they dont auto compress. I have to do it if needed. (I'll double check though, and let you know)

Hmmm... that's odd. Perhaps DVDShrink remembers reauthor settings between sessions.
I do know that (at least on my machine) it doesn't matter if the title I drag over is less that 4,464 MB - it chooses automatic in any case, though for that scenario the ratio is 100%. I may have to experiment a little.
