Editing an Mpg [Archive]

Hey, Does anyone know a good program that can be used to edit an mpg file? I have an mpg film that is too long to make into a VCD as its too long so i want to split into two parts but i don't know a good progam to use. Any suggestions?

Is it MPEG-1 ar MPEG-2?
MPEG-1 files can be cut using VCD Cutter like programs.

mpeg files can be cut using tmpgenc under the tool menu.

I am not even sure if they are mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files. Excue my ignorance, but how do i tell the difference?

Any suggestions on which VCD cutter programs i should use?
