Hi,

Got the following error message whilst using DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5:

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
The error is:
Programming error - impossible program state occurred
The reason is: Unknown"

This occurs every time I try and reprocess a DVD image that I created as follows:

1. Ripped with DVD Decrypter
2. Re-authored using DVD Shrink - movie only
3. Transcoded with IC 8 - however too large a result
4. Thought I'd re-author again with DVD Shrink to crop end credits and fit onto DVD-R. Error occurs every time I try and re-load into DVD shrink.

I have tried both from a mounted image and the raw DVD files.

Any thoughts.....

I've done all you describe except step 3.
So I assume the error is caused by IC

Search for a post about this exact problem you are having. It is very recent. It is a known problem. The fix is something about running Get VTS sectors in IfoEdit.

I have tried the get vts sectors in ifoedit and that does not change the behaviour. Still wont load into DVD Shrink - strange one....

Oh well I guess the mystery will remain...

To get around this little inconvenience I extracted the raw streams re-authored the DVD without subs and now it fits on a DVD-R. Next time I won't be so quick to delete the original ripped files :)

I had a similiar problem, backing up a movie using cce/ifoupdate.
Dvd shrink didn't open the resulting movie, and i solved with this method.
Try this and let us know if it worked.
Open problematic ifo with ifoedit.
Select vob extras, with options checked:
correct vob-unit
Correct original ifo files.
Ifoedit should correct the structure of the vob.

How about a bump? :)

I had this same problem with a movie I ran through InstantCopy 8. Tried all the suggestions, nothing worked.

Uninstalled it, installed InstantCopy 7.x and ran the movie through it. Converted the file with pdi2iso, mounted it, and brought it into DVD Shrink with no problem. So there's my solve...

I have the same problem using the Big Three. Also tried the suggestions but it doesn't work for me either.
