ACM wrapper vs. DirectShow

Is it preferable to decode MP3 audio streams using a DirectShow decoder or an ACM wrapper?

I doubt it really matters which you use to decode. Are you talking about decoding for converting to another format or for playback ? What do you mean by preferable? quality ? The quality will be based almost completely on the encoder and settings used to create the MP3, the decoding will not have much effect on the quality.

Sorry, I should've been more specific.

By preferable, I mean better quality, lower CPU usage, etc... or any other advantage to decoding for playback.

I guess my next question would be, what IS the difference between using a DirectShow decoder for playback versus an ACM wrapper?
