Hi !
Usually we found a lot of messages saying that for any reason,
a correct avs file cannot be opened anymore !
I found a simple explaination in some cases :
When I installed from scratch, everything was fine, but
as soon as I changed the program path for avisytnh plugin to
"C:\Program Files\Gordian Knot" instead of
"C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1" ... then I was not anymore able to open
THE SAME AVS FILE !!!
And the only thing I could do was to remove completely
Gordian Knot and reinstall it to set this path to its default value!
So my advice is :
If the path to avisynth plugin is set, don't change it !!!
That's all folks !

i believe this problem was fixed in 0.28.5.3, but indeed was present before. in any case 0.28.6 should not have this problem.

I'm sorry to contradict you, but the version I used to find the bug
was ... the 0.28.6.1 !!!
I just removed everything, including the registry keys, reinstalled
this version, and loaded my d2v file ... went OK
Then I changed the Avisynth plugin path to
"C:\Program Files Gordian Knot" and tried to reload my d2v file ...
Then I got the error !!!
So, as I did nothing else, I guess this change brought me the bug :D
But as I found a workaround (not changing the path), I found this
bug is not a major one and I just want to notice it
Bye !;)

would you mind checking version 0.28.6.2?
(I tried to fix that, but I never had this problem myself, so I couldn't tell the difference)

Well, I must admit that you reacted FAST !!!
I just downloaded upgrade 0.28.6., upgraded my GK,
did the same modification (I.E. changing the Avisynth plugin path to
C:\Program Files\Gordian Knot) ...
and suddenly I was able to open my d2v file without any error :D
So the correction is done ...
By the way, let me tell you :
"how wonderful life is ... when GK's in the world ..."
And I want to apologize for the error in my first post:
I wrote 'avs' instead of d2v ...
FOR EVERYTHING, GOOD JOB !!!
:p

good news!
I think this bug was there since path settings were introduced. It's good to finally get rid of it. Thanks for reporting it.

My pleasure !
If I find something else wrong (I doubt this will happen ...)
I will notice it !
Thanks again for this wonderful tool !
Bye
