I'm encoding a certain anime involving lions which has a lot of primary colors. These colors looks all blocky due to the chroma bug (even in the preview)... so how do i solve this problem? :scared:
I know there are a lot of subject of this matter, but i haven't found the solution so far.

Yeah ! There is a lot to read... :D
If you want a quick solution without reading this stuff !!!
I can tell you that there is no "real" way to solve it...
This bug comes from the colorspace that MPEG uses !!!
You can only solve this during playback...
First method is to use ffdshow with "ConvertToRGB32()" in the AviSynth tab !!!
Needs some CPU power, and could produce some errors...
Depends on system and ffdshow build !!!
But when it works, It works well... ;)
Second method is to buy a new GC, lol !!!
A third method was told me by CruNcher...
Try to use the "VMR 9 Windowed" mode in MPC !!!
PS:
Reading the thread would be even better !!!
Just to understand the problematic of this stuff... ;)
EDIT: Fixed some stuff !!!

Hmmm... i'd rather not
Try to use the "VMR 9 Renderles" mode in MPC !
Didn't work for me either

ok, i'll try this but i'm not sure how...
- Open ffdshow's settings/options dialog ! (filter properties)
- Then chose Avisynth in its filter list ! (on the left side)
- Then write ConvertToRGB32() into it ! (on the right side)
- Finally activate the Avisynth filter ! (this small checkbox... ;))

Hey, thanks for helping, but all methods don't work for me :/ . Does it work for you?
I think it already goes work when encoding the movie :( ...

Hey, thanks for helping, but all methods don't work for me :/ . Does it work for you?
1st method: Yes !
Using ffdshow with "ConvertToRGB32()" in its AviSynth tab worked for me...
But only with "some" builds !!!
2nd method: Also yes...
After changing my old GF2 to an Radeon9200-VIVO, all this colorbugs are gone !!!
Because of the Radeons internal chroma upsampling... ;)
3rd method: No ???
Dont know really, cant see a difference anymore because of my Radeon... :D
And what do you mean with "all methods don't work for me" ?
Do you get an error message, or something else ???
That could be related to the ffdshow build you use...
What version of ffdshow do you use ???
I think it already goes work when encoding the movie...
No chance... :(
AFAIK, theres no way to solve this problem before decoding the movie !
OK, you can convert the colorspace to RGB32 with AviSynth before encoding, but this would not change anything...
Because the colorspace goes always back to YV12 !!!
Or you have to save your movies uncompressed... :D
LOL...!!!
As I said before...
This "bug" can only be solved during playback !!!
Doubt, theres no other way...
Bye
