Call me a n00b if you want, but I've just forgotton something and I need to rememebr.
At the moment I'm making my own DVD. No menus, just put it in and it plays the movie. I'm talking about stand-alone players for home use here. I've used CCE to make my video stream into MPEG-2 and now all I need to do is get the audio as well.
Now the question is, what audio type/stream do I use and do I mux it to the video?
I've just had a bit of a brainfart and I hope someone can remind me of what I have forgotten.

Hi,
may I suggest to you to use an other title for your thread to start with (in compliance with our forum rules)? A title should describe the nature of your question and not be so general.
Well back to your qestion:
The dvd format support differnt kinds of audio (48 khz) like, ac3, dts, wav, mp2 (only pal I think).
To mux your video and your audio you use and authoring program. With such a program you can design (author) a dvd. In your case a very simple one.
For your choice you could use programs like:
ifoedit (free)
dvdlab (trial version available)
tmpegdvdauthor (trial version available)
Just to name a few.
You can find guides on doom9 if you need any.
Good luck!

I keep seeing this on the forum and just thought I'd give you this info. MP2 works just fine on all three of my ntsc standalone dvd players. All three are differnet brands. I just took on back to the store I didn't like and it played MP2 also. It too, was a differnet brand.

Well I'm not a NTSC user myself so I only have this info from reading myself. Could be that the dvd standard doesn't allow MP2 for NTSC, but that players are still able to play it.
Anyway if it works that's nice ;)

I think for compliance you need a video stream and an AC3 audio stream.

Thank you for the update on the rules about the topic title.
I used the AC3 Channel support and its working fine...
BTW, has anyone here heard of DVX? My friend is using it and keeps getting a weird message about the version of BeSweet not being compatitable with the version of DVX. He has installed the lastest SysPack allready, what could be wrong??

for compliance, you need a video stream, and an audio stream being either ac3 or PCM (add m2a to those 2 for PAL)

I'd avoid use of mp2 at all if you intend on using the disc on multiple players... go ac3.

Well, I'm going AC3 for the audio, now whats the standard for video?
What codec/resolution I mean because this is not playing on my DVD player.

This message only means that the version of DVX hasn't been tested with the version of BeSweet you are using (even if you got it from the SysPack). This is no problem as the cli of BeSweet didn't change.
BTW You can disable this message from the settings under advanced tab.
