View Full Version : bitrate setting not affecting file size

I am using Vdub 1.5.4 on a pc that has divx 4.12 and now divx 3.11 on it. I get decent results with 3.11 am very puzzled why when I change the bitrate for divx low-motion from like 1100 all the way to 2800 kbps I don't see a reflective file size difference.

With my other pc running 3.11 there is certainly a difference in file size.

What am I missing?

Eric.

probably because your source compresses well
and does not need more than 1100 kbits to reach average drf of 2.

It's the reason why a first pass does not use the bitrate you input to it.

To be sure, make a compressibility test...

PS: Do not use vdub for encoding with div3.11 alpha,
vdub does not have any quality control structure,
and you'll have not a good overall quality and sh!tted frames will be there...

PS2: i just reread the thread.
Or your souce is the same, identic,
and check if your encoding parameter were not changed in a way.
Or it is not the same, and hunt for a change in compressibility.
