Archive labelling schemata

It goes without saying that large archives require order to keep them managable. No doubt we all use some kind of labelling schema for discs and, if applicable, cases, but some may be more useful than others. Perhaps we could all improve our labelling schemata if we shared and discussed them.

In case anyone's interested my schema/eye-test for MPEG-4 movies is below. Please give me feedback and post your own. I'm certainly open to some change (but not much, of course!).

(x) : x is written on the CD
[x] : x is written on the case

AID = audio "id" (eg. MP3, OGG (i.e. Vorbis in every case), AC3, WMA, etc)
CTR = container "id" (eg. AVI, OGM, MKV, etc)
fps = frames per second (vfr for variable frame rate, otherwise rounded to integer)
KiBps = average VIDEO byterate in Kilibytes per second (rounded to integer)
Kibps = average AUDIO bitrate in Kilibits per second (rounded to integer)
4CC = FourCC (eg. XVID, DX50, DIV3, RV40, etc)

Resolution, YEAR, and HH:MM:SS are self-explanatory.

VOLUME_LABEL is the CD/ISO's longest actual volume label.
fake_LABEL is my own artificial volume label for archive purposes and is only written when the actual one is useless.

Blimey thats long winded (very good but way too much hassle for me)

What i do is on the cd i write name of movie, container, and cd number and format eg.


Red.Dragon-OGG.DVDRip.DivX.CD1

and i have an access database which i put the relevant details in as mentioned above

i could not be bothered to type in FPS and bitrate and all the rest although i admire people who do.

but for me i just want to know what the film is and in what format plus how many cds

On the disc I only put the name of the movie, number of CDs and included audio languages. For the details I have a little (well, not so little anymore) HTML-file containing every movie I own with full details (name, length, languages, file size, container, video format, audio format, notes). For all the additional stuff about actors, story line, crew members, etc. an IMDb-link is enough.
