View Full Version : Yatoshi Satsuki Real encoder GUI (new version 10.1.0)
Shinobu
19th October 2003, 22:39
hello,
I made a gui for RV10 because i want a realy simple gui to use even from newby, but with lot of features for avanced user.
My gui is designed to convert mpeg, mpg, d2v, avs, avi and ogm to real video and wav, mp2, mp3 , ogg, ac3 to real audio (with possible delay)
As a newby know how to make a .d2v file ( and of course extract soundtrack of the dvd ) my gui make a good automatised backup of the dvd, with an AR resize and autocrop.
You can encode single file or encode a lot of file with the same settings in a few clics
My soft is not perfect of course but that's my first soft an any comment will help my.
a last thing, my gui is in french only at the moment, i'll made a dual languge or an english version as soon as possible.
thanks for testing ^^ (the little online help i made is in french , so if you don't understant or have any question please post here ^^)
http://satsuki.yatoshi.free.fr/
http://oldanimes.org/gui2.jpg
just one tip for the no french speaking users, for encode a file with my gui, drap&drop the file(s) in the windows "Glisser ici les fichiers à encoder" ,make your settings, clic on "valider les reglages" to confirm your settings, and then clic on "lancer l'encodage" to start up the compression...

cool. cant wait for english version.

Is it in Visual Basic? Also, using tabs could clean a lot the interface :)
Shinobu
20th October 2003, 02:36
Yes it's in vb because i'm far for a programmer so i've use the easyer language ^^.
i don't want to use tabs because i do this GUI to be as simple as possible , so the only tab (it's not realy a tab) is the "options avancées" (advanced settings) button.
thank for your reply
if you have more advice i'll be appy to listen them.
appy to see some people are interested in a new GUI (thre's already a lot of GUI for helix producer...)
i try to make an english translation of the gui in a few day, but for the help of my web page, it may take a little more time ....
++
ps : if some one not bad in french want to halp me to make the english translation, it will prevent bad or approx translation ...

Dear Shinobu,
Is your GUI support Anamorphic Encoding ?
Thank you.
Sirber
28th October 2003, 04:08
IIRC, yes
Shinobu
28th October 2003, 09:24
yes it support anamorphic encode , but not like in autorv9 or other full automatized GUI, here you have to specify the real codec's resize.
for exemple, if you want to do an ntsc 4:3 full anamorphic encode, you will encode it at 720*480 and resize it on play to 720*540 (or may be 544 for video card compatibility).
I made anamorphic encoding this way because a lot of GUI automate it, but if you want to do some "exotic" resize on play (i like test exotic options ^^) you'll can't , so i made my GUI to use manual anamorphic so you can do a lot of different resize on play.
For exemple for playing on a tv and encoding at very low bitrate (<350) the 352*480 resized on play at 640*480 works realy great.
I don't think i make an automatized support of anamorphic encoding (not before some time) , i'll probably make dropdupe prefilter support first

when I try to convert ogm, just press start encoding then the program exit immediately... T__T do you know why?
oh, I just find that even avi encode the same, exit immediately once press start encoding... T__T
also, how do I choose the subtitle/language in ogm I want during encoding batch files?
thx for help.

Have you made the full install of my gui (i mean avisynth) ?
Can you open the avi you trie to encode with virtualdub ? (if yes i don't kwon why, but if no you must install the codec of the vidéo to encode it).
For the ogm, i only apply a directshowsource, so the support is far from perfect.
if you want to encode an ogm to real, demux your ogm, drag and drop the avi file + audio file you just demux , and it will be ok.
the auto-integration of subtitle (like the audio stream) is not yet finish but i will include it in next version.
so in conclusion, the avi bug is probably a missing codec or bad avisynth version bug; the ogm bug can append (for ogm and mkv i suggest to demux the file before reencoding); ans the subtitle support will be present in the next version...

Trie to open your avs script with virtualdub
if virtualdub can open the avs my gui can also use it....
please trie your avs script with virtualbud and then post here what's appened

I haven't tried playing the file in Vdub but my media player played it fine so the script worked i think. it was "avisource(c:\bla.avi)" which I couldn't load in helix producer, i didn't try the gui yet tho as i'm new to RV9 stuff..

For avisource you need a VFW codec installed. DShowSource will use any DShow codec like FFDShow

I think helix prducer plus doesn't like RGB(?) input that much, my encodes of avs-scripts with "converttoYUY2" turned out clean, RGB or what ever it was before YUY2, looked like it was streched into the "highth" and looked like a bad resize without the actualy size of the frame being bigger..anyways..
this is a question for the Legendary RV9 Nerd ;)
my source material is an anime which has lots of still pictures, maybe you know the show Witch Hunter Robin. I want to encode it to RV8 for my mobile phone, so you know of a way to make the "when nothings moving" scenes more efficent? the low and high bitrate control more agressive maybe? my current setting is 2pass VBR 75, highest 180, video size is 208x176, sound 16kbs voice. the still scenes look good, but bigger movement drags smeary bits into the background.
any suggestions?

+Modification of max bitrate auto calculation
+Correct ogm bug

Is that possible to get the "GUI app only" not the whole package,
for small internet bandwidth like me, it's hurt. :(
Thank you.

You could use DropDupe (producer) with Dup (AVISynth) to remove consecutive still images. With the same quality, low motion scenes use ~30% less bitrate, so high motion ones looks better. I usualy only use DropDupe alone (with RealAnime) with default settings, max 1 dropped frame. I don't know if EHQ works with RV8...

interesting use of RV8! as a matter of fact, I recently added much of EHQ to RV8 just for the reason that some mobile equipment supports only RV8. DropDupe should work as well, since it is just a pre-filter. So just encode with Producer 9.2 Milestone 7, with very-high encodingComplexity, and this will give you a nice boost in RV8 quality.

what is "direct encoding" ?
Shinobu
4th February 2004, 14:53
When the direct encoding is enabled, the files you wants to encode are directly linked to producer.exe without be scripted by avisynth, it is usefull to encode some weird file witch bug with avisynth or to try to encode some files that ma gui isn't supposed to encode (like mov, ape, flac ....), in this mode , the file extention verification is disabled and the auto file association and the auto avisynth filtering (for d2v) are disable too
this mode let you just "feed" producer direcly with files without any filtering nor verification , it's a good testing mode or "last hope" mode

producer reads in DirectShow, if AVISynth can't do it with DirectShowSoure, then there is no hope :)

I just try the direct encoding, trying to convert a short ape to 64k he-aac mka, and it really works like magic!!! so happy and so thx!!! ^O^ from 3,926,956 to 370,553 with just the same quality to my ear!!! ^O^
However, some problems:
1. even I choose .mka container, the resulting file is .ra, I have to rename to .mka manually.
2. only .mka can play successfully, .ra cannot.
3. if I choose .ra container, and rename the resulting .ra file to .mka directly, it can play... strange...
4. if same file name, normally it would add .arch before extension, but in direct encoding the order is reversed, so I have to manually change it in order to play the file.
Also, please don't miss this feature in the merged version!!! ^_^ and even better please add .dat file support if possible. ^_^
btw, don't know why the newest version still has translation problem in my computer, the words within "====" after pressing validate still not translated, anyone else has got the same problem?
also the same in the words in the popup box after pressing on a validated file to try to remove it (which fails to do so??? why not? how to remove the validated file except close the GUI and reopen it?)

Thanks for your tool shinobu.
It's very straightforward.
However I've fed it with a simple avs file (no filter apart from open mpeg and resize) and the coded file shows ghosting artefact probably due to high temporal noise filtering and the video looks very blurred as well.
I've used the same avs to code with other codecs and this problem didnt happen in the other cases.
I'm sure the noise filtering option was off.
The video is 720*288 and the other encoding options were
bitrate of 1500,
2pass vbr,
sharp,
EHQ pass1/pass2:65/85,
b frames: adaptives,
noise edge filtering and black level filter were off, dropdude 0,
direct encoding off,
container matroska.
Do you have an idea why the video shows that strong smoothing and ghosting?
(I'm human so i may have checked a noise filtering option and not having realised it so I'll re run the process and tell you about the result when its finished)
Thanks for your tool anyway!
