View Full Version : Fuzzy looking menu buttons that don't look like what I drew

Am I the only one who has made a subpicture overlay by hand and the resulting menu button has fuzzy sides to it when the original overlay had straight sides? Hopefully I'm explaining this well enough to understand, but the short of it is, my latest overlay/menu buttons look like garbage with it's ugly sides.
It's almost like Scenarist is not importing my bitmap correctly. Let me know if there is a solution to this or if I'm doing something wrong.

No one has any ideas on this one? I only drew a few boxes. The bottom and top of the boxes look fine, yet the left and right side of the boxes have a saw shaped edge. Am I stuck with ugly buttons on this one? :(

What did you use to draw them? It sounds like you are getting some of that bitmap aftermath.
If it's just boxes, instead of drawing them, use a square tool almost every art program has.

It is just a simple bitmap with perfectly formed boxes. I'm not quite following you how a drawing tool will help out here. Even my underline for the current selected menu button has a sawtooth edge on the left and right side. I find it kind of odd. I will try to use another program like The Gimp or Photoshop and see how that responds, but I don't hold out much hope. :scared:

Well, i found a way to fix it. It seems if you draw a full sized menu screen at 720 x 480 - everything looks fine. However, if you draw a smaller subtitle that is say 100 x 100 in size and try to overlay it on, there is a chance that it will get that sawtooth effect. Anyway, problem fixed, even though it was fixed the hard way.

Another thing to be sure of is to not use anti-aliasing in your subpictures as that the added transparency will not be recognised.
